According to Managing Director of Messe Augsburg Gerhard Reiter, the results of the latest visitor and exhibitor survey speak for themselves: "The consistently positive feedback confirms our commitment as Southern Germany's no. 1 trade fair to provide an even higher quality offering the upcoming year for our exhibitors and visitors from far beyond the borders of Bavaria and Swabia." JAGEN UND FISCHEN will take place for the third time from 16 to 19 January, 2014 in the halls of Messe Augsburg. This year, exhibitors can benefit from committing early with an early-bird discount.

 

Facts and figures convince

Taking place early in the year, JAGEN UND FISCHEN will continue to be the first trade fair to start off the season, which is frequented by hunters, fishers and nature lovers on the look-out for valuable information, the very latest products and expert dialogs. 200 exhibitors from 12 countries delighted more than 21,000 fairgoers in January 2013, who - according to Peter Beer, exhibitor and initiator of the collective booth of the company Waffen Beer as well as the Used Weapons Show - even made it all the way from Switzerland and Southern Tyrol. The positive further development of the fair commended by Beer will continue: The flexible and competent trade fair team, whose service and expert advice satisfied nearly 90 percent of the exhibitors, is hard at work on the expansion of the fields of hunting dogs, fly fishing and boats as well as the expansion of the off-road vehicle sector.

The versatile supporting program consisting of special shows, hunter and fishing forums, fashion shows, birds of prey presentations, an off-road vehicle course, performances by folk groups and hunting-horn blowers delighted visitors and exhibitors alike. In 2014, the fair will once again provide plenty of variety, with renowned and seasoned experts from all sectors attending the forums, and providing the latest in fish and game delicacies. 87 percent of the visitors had a good to very good overall impression of the fair and 86 percent would certainly or probably return. A proof that JAGEN UND FISCHEN has established its reputation as a popular trade fair.

89 percent of the exhibitors rated the atmosphere at the last JAGEN UND FISCHEN with a good to excellent and 90 percent gave the same ratings to the fair's state-of-the-art building services. Backed by these figures, the decision to participate again in 2014 is surely an easy one, and we are offering for the very first time a five-percent early-bird discount, with the same pricing structure for all stand types as before. Two kick-off events marking the start of GOLF EUROPE 2013 will offer professional specialists the perfect opportunity to both network with each other and engage in direct contact with end consumers. In addition, exhibitors with innovative products will once again be able to register their new creations for the GOLF EUROPE PRODUCT AWARD in a total of nine different categories.

In just under six months it will be that time of year again: time to “tee off” GOLF EUROPE, the 20th International Golf Exhibition at the exhibition site in Augsburg. GOLF EUROPE PRODUCT AWARD 2013

After enjoying great popularity in 2012, the GOLF EUROPE PRODUCT AWARD will again be handed out this year for particularly innovative golfing products. Some products have already been registered and will be assessed during the trade fair by an international jury of experts, which will consist of professionals and well-known trade and media representatives. For the first time, there will also be a jury representing the audience. This second panel will be made up of amateur golfers. All PRODUCT AWARD participants will reap a double benefit from their involvement. Along with free advertising in the run-up to the fair, all participants will receive the audience jury’s evaluations on their products and therefore direct feedback. The winning products will also be on display in their own special presentation area throughout the trade fair.

From 29 September to 1 October Messe Augsburg is all about golf again, when visitors from the trade and professional golfers will be showing up to the 20th GOLF EUROPE trade fair, which will be held in Augsburg for the second time.  The really positive response from the event staged last year from 1,948 trade visitors from 34 countries and 114 exhibitors emphasises the important status of the event as a centrally-located platform for the European golf industry.

A first for the FIRST DRIVE section

The FIRST DRIVE section went down very well last year.  There is an exclusive and limited opportunity for exhibitors launching a new product for the first time at a golf trade fair this year, as well as to present their new things to the trade on a limited number of stands. 

Innovations for the GOLF EUROPE PRODUCT AWARD 2013

With 77 products submitted the PRODUCT AWARD met with a great response even in 2012 and leads us to expect even greater interest in 2013.  An independent jury consisting of experts will be testing and evaluating new products sent in on the basis of stipulated criteria and will be awarding prizes in various categories for particularly innovative products.  This year there will be a total of nine categories altogether, notably, Clothing, Footwear, Gloves, Clubs, Golfbags, Caddies, Training Aids, GPS sets and Accessories.

Networking and Supporting Programme with DEMO Day and the GOLF EUROPE Cup 2013

One day prior to the beginning of the trade fair, on 28 September, there will be a DEMO Day staged on the site of the GolfRange Augsburg again.  The DEMO Day serves above all to assist the exhibitors wishing to come into close contact with the visitors.  The GOLF EUROPE Cup will be staged for the first time as an additional highlight.  All exhibitors of GOLF EUROPE will be called upon to use this tournament as an opportunity to network as a team with fellow exhibitors and customers.  The day preceding the trade fair will be brought to a close with a social evening in Kurhaus Göggingen, in the course of which the winners of the GOLF EUROPE Cup will be given their prizes and the PRODUCT AWARDS will be awarded.

Once again more than 21,000 visitors heeded to the call of JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2013 to kick off the season in Augsburg

Just over 21,000 fairgoers visited the 200 exhibitors on 15,000 m2 of exhibition space to learn the very latest on what there is to know about the world of hunting and fishing. And not just seasoned hunters and fishermen but also many families and nature lovers came to admire the special hunting and fishing shows, the workshops, the outdoor off-road vehicle course, the fashion shows, finest fish delicacies, hunting horn blowers, choirs and traditional folk music groups such as the Gaugruppe des Altbairisch-Schwäbischen Gauverbandes.

Everything the nature lover's heart desires

Gerhard Reiter, Managing Director of Messe Augsburg is satisfied with the high quality of the trade fair: "In terms of exhibitors, we were able to provide a broad offering and the special shows were prepared and supported by our partners with great personal commitment and attention to detail, and adds: "We are particularly pleased that the Bavarian Hunting Association felt very much at home with their events within this framework."

Special shows, birds of prey and pedigree dogs

The highly appealing special shows of the partner associations of the Augsburg hunting association Jägervereinigung Augsburg e.V. and the Women's Hunting Forum, the Swabian fishing association Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V. and specialist support unit for fishing in Swabia offered plenty of well-prepared information and the dioramas of Augsburger Jägervereinigung e.V. fascinated grownups and children alike. In addition, the Association's hunting school presented information on hunter education courses and the workshops demonstrated traditional crafts such as metal engraving, knife making and taxidermy.

The hunting dog association Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e.V. presented some 30 different breeds of dog such as setters, Hungarian pointers and the Deutsche Bracke. During the daily dog show, the four-legged specialists demonstrated their diverse areas of expertise on the action stage. Seasoned falconer Wolfgang Schreyer demonstrated the age-old tradition of falconry with his raptor presentation.

Fishing trip previews

The tour operators at the fair encounter quite some demand. Markus Müller, Fisheries Information Manager at the Ireland booth was very happy with the progress of the fair and also had Germany's fishing specialist Babs Kijewski on board.

Bernd Töpper, Alaska Bavaria Lodge, was extremely pleased with the interesting audience in Augsburg and expects to receive quite a number of bookings.

For Marcus Türk, Floridas Treasure Coast, it was: "The best show up to now. Many people also have a direct connection with Florida, which of course is indicative of a large portion of bookings for this region."

Discovering and participating was where it's at

The 3D archery simulator, presented by the archery center Bogenzeit from Paderborn, and the Augsburger Jägervereinigung with its shooting gallery provided abundant entertainment for this year's fairgoers. The ever-so popular deer calling competition took place on Saturday. Children and adults could dive into the world of the Native American Indian and make a traditional medicine bag at the Two Hawks booth. And not just expert fly fishers were enthusiastic about trying out the equipment in the casting field and getting expert advice from seasoned sportsmen Ralph Warnke and Matthew Calderaro. Two-time German champion in fly tying, Erwin Tibad demonstrated his skill live on stage. The workshop that dealt with rolls, rods, lines, bait tuning and tying various predator fish rigs was held by recognized predator fish expert, Torsten Ahrens, who provided participants with excellent practical tips. The outdoor off-road test route with bridge, slopes and cross-overs provided a true off-road feeling.

Besides the used weapons show held by the company Beer with some 100 hunting weapons, the innovative offering of new weapons by manufacturers such as Blaser, Mauser and Sauer also provided a wide selection of products.

What other exhibitors had to say

Peter Beer, Waffen Beer, sums it up: "Compared to last year, the show has developed positively, the other exhibitors are satisfied - the concept works. Augsburg is an excellent location, we even had visitors from Switzerland and South Tyrol at our booth. All in all - a successful show."

Reinhard Bauer, Blaser, at the joint stand of Waffen Beer: "I am pleasantly surprised at the high number of visitors as well as the fairgoers interested in its products. The trade fair is really worth it's while."

Bernd Wülpert, Minox, also at the joint stand of Waffen Beer was full of praise: "A very well-frequented trade fair with a good and interested audience."

The Waffen Prinz stand exhibited hand-crafted weapons, such as the "Amber Quadruple" hunting rifle with diamonds, rubies and 24 carat gold worth some 300,000 euros. Oswald Prinz emphasizes the family-like atmosphere of the trade fair: "Very nice people – there was so much going on. A great show!"

Sophia Wörle, Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e.V., was very satisfied: "Plenty of happy fairgoers, and even families had a great time at the fair and thought it was very informative. The offering is of even better quality than the previous year."

Christof Scholl, Suzuki, was positively impressed by the trade fair: "Interesting trade visitors attend the fair and it is important for us to be present here."

Birds of prey in full flight, tracks in the snow, freshwater shrimp and caddis flies, as well as the specialist work of our four-legged friend the tracking dog are just some of the many things our very versatile program has to offer to hunters, fishermen and nature lovers alike at this year's JAGEN UND FISCHEN trade fair from January 17 to 20, 2013 in Augsburg. The specialist forums and special shows focusing on the topics hunting and fishing also boast a broad training offering. Workshops, an off-road vehicle course, fashion shows, scrumptious fish delicacies and hunting-horn blowers round of this eventful show.

Opening talk

Exceptionally charming and down to earth is how Augsburg's Mayor Dr. Kurt Gribl describes well-known presenter Anja Marks, who will be heading the opening talk for JAGEN UND FISCHEN. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Vocke, President of the Bavarian Hunting Association, Bayerischer Jagdverbandes e.V. (BJV), S.D. Moritz Prince of Oettingen-Wallerstein, Vice President of the BJV, as well as Mayor Dr. Kurt Gribl will join Hans Fürst, First Chairman of the hunting association Jägervereinigung Augsburg e.V., Hans-Joachim Weirather, President of the Swabian Fishing Association, Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V., Alfons Weber, Deputy District President and Manfred Braun, President of the Bavarian Fishery Association, Landesfischereiverband Bayern e.V., to cover the many interesting topics such as the effects of the expansion of hydraulic energy on the fish population, the current status of comorant preservation and the problems arising from so-called invaders in the long term. With regard to the Bavarian hunting scene, many of the discussions will focus on the current forestry report on the current status of forest rejuvenation and the respective hunting selection this entails for the coming three years, the demand for lead-free rifle ammunition as well as the upcoming change to the German Federal Hunting Act on the basis of the decision by the European Court of Human Rights against mandatory membership in hunting associations. The explosive nature of these issues promises some exciting discussion rounds.

Special shows with great appeal

The attractive special shows by the partner associations of the hunting association Augsburg, Jägervereinigung Augsburg e.V., the Swabian Fishery Association, Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V., and the support institute for fishery in the state of Swabia offer plenty of very well prepared information. For instance, the fishery support institute shall reveal the individual development levels of a fish on the basis of an incubation chute. The Water School gives young and old alike a look into the diverse indigenous aquatic life from freshwater shrimp to the caddis fly. The dioramas of the Augsburger Jägervereinigung e.V present spectacular wildlife scenarios which will certainly not just captivate the children attending the fair. Right next door, the association's hunting school is presenting some very interesting information on hunter education courses. The winter feeding trough, contributed by the Bavarian Women's Hunting Forum,  describes the manner in which wildlife and birds live in our indigenous winter forests. The live workshops present traditional crafts such as metal engraving, knife making and taxidermy.

Tracking hounds in action

The hunting dog association, Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e.V. will present 30 different breeds of dog in hall 5. Besides the commonly known hunting dog breeds, fairgoers will see various other breeds of spaniels and setters, Hungarian pointers, the Deutsche Bracke as well as some pups. Also rare breeds such as the Spinone Italiano, an exceptional pointer and retriever as well as French pointer breeds will also be introduced. During the daily shows, the four-legged specialists will present their diverse areas of expertise and specific breed typical features on stage. Breeders, owners and hunting associations are available on site for further information and to answer any questions on all fair days. Every day at 4:30 p.m. things really get going when Tatjana Nar and Remig Erlinger as they demonstrate interesting facts on what the obedience training of a hunting dog entails. Pointing with the aid of a lure rod, Bringselverweisen, dead game baying and retrieving a raw egg or a tasty sausage will truly captivate onlookers. Furthermore, some seasoned tracking hound groups from the region of Ausgburg will introduce themselves personally. Anton Fichtlmeier will speak twice a day at the Hunter Forum on the topic of tracking, illustrating new methods in hunting dog training which have proven to be quickly effective. The specialist in the field of eye diseases, Dr. med. vet. Anja Engelhardt, will hold a daily talk on breed-specific eye afflictions, their diagnosis and possible treatments.

"Elated" hunting helpers

Falconry is the oldest form of hunting. Falconer Wolfgang Schreyer demonstrates this age-old tradition with his raptor presentation. Every day, his raptors display their powerful hunting skills in flight during the outdoor demonstration, a truly impressive program highlight.  In addition, Schreyer will also hold an in-depth presentation of his birds on the action stage. He will be accompanied by some of his birds such as Schorschi the Golden Eagle, a Bald Eagle, a Peregrine Falcon as well as a Gyrfalcon and possibly even a Steppe Eagle, who will show us their beautiful plumage and unique personalities.

Hunting trips and fishing fever

Attractive offers by tour operators from Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Hungary as well as extensive driven hunts in federal, state and privately owned forests promise a very special hunting experience for 2013. Perhaps one can even get hold of one or the other insider tips from one of the many experts.

Martin County, Florida/USA is the perfect backdrop to combine family celebrations and sailfishing. 5,000 kilometers of coastline as well as numerous rivers and lakes make Ireland a fisherman's paradise for salmon, pike, trout and brown trout. Whether freshwater and sea fishing in Norway, exquisite catfish and carp fishing on the river Po in the Italian province of Venice, or fly fishing in Montana, the offering of extraordinary hunting trips at JAGEN UND FISCHEN is clearly worth its while.

From A as in Angling to Z in Zoom Binoculars

The varied programme highlights of the JAGEN UND FISCHEN trade fair which will be opening its doors in Augsburg from the 17th to the 20th January 2013, leaves nothing to be required. Not only hunters and anglers come here, but nature lovers and outdoor specialists come too to find out what is new and they really do get their money’s worth too when familiarising themselves with the new products available. All sorts of workshops, a track for cross-country vehicles, as well as up-to-date information about cormorant management in Bavaria awaits the visitors. Gerhard Reiter, managing director of Messe Augsburg, is confident that this positive development is just the beginning of a long history of success, made possible by working together with committed associates.

 

Hazardous migration

At the stand of the Landesfischereiverbandes Bayern e.V. there is information available on the risks threatening the German fish stocks resulting from the ever more popular water power, since in the meantime there is highly technical industrial plant located not only along the major rivers but even on small streams, which with their turbines often make the migration of fish a fatal undertaking for them. For example, of 10,000 migrating spawn eels from the Obermain river, with a conservative estimated mortality rate of 20 per cent per power station, only five reach the Rhine, since they have to traverse 34 water power stations on this journey which is essential to their survival. Even the trout, which was voted Fish of the Year in 2013 is hindered in many places by barrage weirs with locks, dams and power stations on its journeys into the spawning grounds. Two of these fine fellows, the river trout and the lake trout, all of which are sadly under threat in their natural environment, are presented by fish specialists in aquaria.

 

Cormorant management

The joint model environmental project managed by the environmental and agricultural management for cormorant management on flowing waters is presented at the stand run by the fish advisors for Swabia, which is running at the Bavarian Regional Office of the Environment. The projects covers the Mindel and Schmutter rivers and its objective is to develop effective methods for scaring cormorants. "From our perspective there has already been an increase in the mutual appreciation by all the parties involved and here I include anglers, hunters and conservationists, thanks to this pilot project. The scaring campaigns already conducted to date on the pilot waterways have already produced a beneficial effect ", is what Dr Oliver Born, fish adviser for Swabia, said in support of the tasks of the people responsible for the cormorants.

 

Used guns show and 3-D bow simulator

In addition to a used weapon show with about 100 hunting guns from the Beer company, knowledgeable advisors from well-known gun-makers such as Blaser, Mauser and Sauer present their range of new guns on a joint stand covering 200 square metres. JAGEN UND FISCHEN is also well set up for gunsights. In addition to Leica and Swarowski, in 2013 Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH will also be putting on a display for the first time in Augsburg. The skilled craftsmen from the gunsmiths in Ferlach will be showing off their precision work with artistically engraved hunting guns.

The 3D bow simulator really is a first in the world. It will be presented at JAGEN UND FISCHEN by the team of the Bogenzeit archery centre in Paderborn. This real-time simulator has been developed in collaboration with the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. Four cameras film the sequence of movements and sensors on the bow provide the computer with additional information. It is aimed as a beamed image. The integral damper system prevents the arrow from actually being released. The team are only too happy for you to try out the simulator – with assistance from the team of course.

 

Cross-country vehicle test tracks

The cross-country vehicle track in the open air will put the wind in your hair and a rush of adrenalin for both drivers and spectators. Bridges, AWD sections to demonstrate the advantages of axles with differential, as well as a stretch of track with an angled cross section provide a genuine Off-Road experience. The exciting test tracks one which one wheel or the other may leave the ground and the steepness of the bridge incline appear to be downright impossible to traverse, show the advantages of four-wheel drive vehicles and you can buy them at the trade fair from the exhibitors and test drive them under supervised conditions.

 

Manifold support programme

Workshops laid on by angling experts, top speakers on hunting and fishing, hunting fashion shows, displays with practical tips for cooking game and fish, displays with hunting dogs as well as the falconry display in the open air, are just a small selection from the multi-faceted supporting programme at JAGEN UND FISCHEN. Folk dances in beautiful folk costume, the popular bugle-blowers ensemble and the special shows put on by the affiliated associations on hunting, and fishing round off the wide range of exhibitors and their attractive displays to see.

In addition to this, at 9.30 on 18 January well-known scientists and individuals with practical experience will be discussing the situation of roe deer at the Roe Deer Symposium organised by the Bavarian Hunting Association. Getting to JAGEN UND FISCHEN in comfort

Clubs and groups of visitors, but private individuals too, will also have the opportunity for the first time in 2013 of travelling from Upper Bavaria and Allgäu, in a comfortable chartered coach. Bus line 1 travels via Rosenheim, Irschenberg and Munich, Line 2 allows visitors to board in Kempten, Sonthofen, Pfronten, Lengenwang, Peiting and Landsberg. With its manifold programme of events and products JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2013 is the ideal Christmas present for all hunters, anglers and those interested in nature. That is why entrance tickets are already on sale in advance at Bankhaus Hafner, the Tourist Information Office in Augsburg as well as by e-mail and are also available directly from Messe Augsburg by e-mail if payment is made when placing an order.

 

An entrance ticket for a day costs 8.50 Euro, admittance is free for children up to 15 years old and dogs. There is a reduction in the price of an entrance ticket down to 7.50 Euro for members of the following associations: Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V, Jägervereinigung Augsburg e.V., Landesfischereiverband Bayern e.V., Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V., Deutscher Sportfischer-Pass, Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e.V..

Students aged 186 and over, pensioners, KAROCARD holders, easy-living-card holders and groups of 10 or more persons also qualify for a reduction in the price of an entrance ticket.

The future lies in Augsburg

The exhibition JAGEN UND FISCHEN from January 17th – 20th 2013 gains more and more significance in Augsburg after a successful start in January 2012. Well known gun manufacturers like Mauser and Sauer will exhibit together with Leica and Swarovksi for the very first time at JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2013.

From lyric to hightech to loden

The hunter’s forum in hall 5 offers a big variety of lectures for its audience. For
example, there will be four poets from the Poets Circle of the BJV who will present the yearbook 2012 with the title “Nicht allein der Beute wegen +” (“Not only because of the prey +”). This is the first book of all ten authors. Spokesman of the poet circle is Mr. Hans H. Milles, who thinks poems are still up-to-date, because they express real experiences, deep thoughts and unique impressions in rhymed or unlinked verses very contemplatively.

Whether chamois, sows, billy-goats or roasters, Konrad Esterl has hunted them all and is one of the most multifaceted figures of the Bavarian hunting party. He was Germany’s youngest game master and always an advocate for the sustainable use of game. In Augsburg he will enthuse his audience with his lecture on bait and callhunting and this not only because he is capable to do the call of a deer in absolute perfection.

Loden or modern functional clothing, which offers more comfort for the hunters? The company “Jagdhund” will rise this discussion twice a day at the Show Stage of thehunter’s forum and will therefore present its revolutionary concepts of loden manufacturing. 

At the hunters movie theatre you can watch exciting adventures on the big screen. Besides classic movies such as “Hunting Impresssions” and “The chamois black and brown” from Heribert Sendlhofer, there will also be the new German setting “Drive hunts on sows” of the famous Swedish dog handler und filmmaker Mikale Tham. In Heiko Schwartz’s movie “Hunting Paradise” one will be able to see hunting scenes of Rusa-deers, Java-pigs and pheasants. The movie was filmed on the island Mauritius, which is so far almost unknown as a hunting paradise.

Game scenes to look at

The Hunter’s Association of Augsburg will show diorama with exclusive preserved animals and spectacular wild life scenes in a natural environment, which will surely not only fascinate children. In this part of the exhibition there will also be an exciting hidden object game on a nature adventure trail for the youngest visitors of the trade fair. The special show offers an inside view into the diverse tasks that hunters nowadays have, such as the design of the habitats of wild animals, prevention of damage caused by game in agricultural and forested land as well as in traffic or practicing nature conservation. In the so called “living workshops” traditional craftsmanship from metal-gravers, knife makers and taxidermists to tanners will elate all visitors.

Realistic hunting experiences will be offered at the shooting gallery. Sows in a
thicket or hunting a flying duck, digital hunting scenes, they all offer training hand over fist. Next to it there will be the hunting school of the Hunter’s Association of Augsburg, which will present interesting information about a hunter’s training. One of the duties of their young hunters is e.g. the organization of a Nature and Forest Adventure Day especially for schools and nursery schools. Hunting in its today’s characteristic is more sustainable with the treatment of nature and is supported by every person of every occupational group. The “Hunting Dog School Schmuttertal” will present its comprehensive courses on dog training. The popular competition “Blatten” (whistling) will be held on Saturday 19 January 2013. The finale of the best whistlers starts at 2 p.m. on the Show Stage. There will be attractive prices for the winners.

Hunting weapons

The topic weapons came up a bit short in 2012. Now JAGEN UND FISCHEN has
well-known manufactures on board such as Mauser and Sauer. Together with Leica and Swarovski they will exhibit there latest products on their pavilion together with “Waffen Beer”. Additionally there will be a second hand weapon sale on the 200 sqm big stand area with about 100 hunting weapons of Waffen Beer. At this stand you will also find “K&K Premium Jagd”, a famous provider of exclusive hunting trips, as well as the company Outfox, which has brought up a new dimension of hunting clothes that made it almost impossible for game to smell humans. All companies will be present with their experts. “For us as exhibitors, the future lies in Augsburg”, Peter and Josef Beer position themselves.

Ticket price is 8.50 Euro per Person, children under 15 and dogs are free of
admission. The members of the following associations will receive a reduced fare of 7.50 Euro: Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V., Jägervereinigung Augsburg e.V., Fischereiverband Schwaben e.V., Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e.V.

The program for both forums for fishers and hunters at the trade show JAGEN und FISCHEN from 17- 20 January 2013 promises much variety, gripping documentations, and also important expertise regarding hunting and fishing. Many knowledgeable speakers can be experienced here live, for example the predatory fish and ocean expert, Torsten Ahrens. The Augsburg trade show for HUNTING & FISHING already shows very promising registration per the business director Gerhard Reiter.

Stalking Knowledge

Complex und current information from expert forums, a broader spectrum of exhibitors as well as attractive special shows of partner our organizations Hunter Association of Augsburg (registered), the Augsburg Hunting Dog Association (registered), Fishing Association of Swabia (registered) and experts on fishing in the Swabian region draw not only the industry professionals to visit JAGEN und FISCHEN from 17 - 20 January 2013. From egg to fish, and consequently the individual steps of their development, revealing for example the breeding channels of fishery experts. "Additionally the water school provides not only children lively insight into the diversity of our native water life from fresh water shrimp to caddis flies,” reveals Dr. Oliver Born, expert consultant for fishery. In large aquariums, there are rare native fish types to discover and for visitors’ personal concerns about the topics of water and fish there are experts daily with talks and answers.

From Norway, Wels and Zander

The broad diversified offerings for further learning in the two forums for fishers and hunters in the conference center as well as in the hunter hall offer presentations from different areas from Thursday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00. For example, Torsten Ahrens is presenting trends, innovations and valuable information about fishing predators. The specifics of Norway’s fishery grounds in relation to the sun, moon, and tides, fishing for Blue Marlin, Iceland, as well as spectacular drills are contained in his multi-media presentations. A workshop, where in addition to rolls, rods and lines, also lures and tying diverse predator rig gear, belongs to the repertoire of this well known predator fish expert. The speaker Benedikt Götzfried dedicates himself to the topic of surface lures and with it, the spectacular style of lure fishing. Only a few years ago topwater fishing in Germany was still in its infancy. Through it more and more anglers are discovering this very visually unique style of fishing, through which the attacks of predator fish can be followed. For the author and professional angler Stefan Seuß, pure fascination is found as ever through wels angling.

In his presentation, he introduces the best trapping methods of the season, because even with ice and snow a waller is not easily caught. Angling for river zander in streams is the specialty of zander expert Sebastian Hänel, who will provide exciting insights into of the modern ways to fish for zander.

Hunting dogs: scent hounds with a perspective

Anton Fichtlmeier believes in optimal communication between dog and man and walks the path of trust in dog training. Twice a day in the hunting forum Fichtlmeier will present on important topics for upcoming buck hunting, retrieving, and also show new possibilities for raising hunting dogs that work demonstrably fast.

 "The hunting forms in our region have changed. Today hunting mainly consists of stalking and retrieving ungulates. This requires a different approach in training our dogs, because they have different challenges," says Fichtlmeier.

Dr. Vet. Med. Anja Engelhardt is a specialist for vision illnesses and in her daily talk presents breed specific eye illnesses, their recognition and possible treatments for dogs, and also gives important tips for emergencies. A thorn in the eye – in the truest sense of the word – requires immediate and above all the correct measures by the dog handler so that the eyesight is saved.  "The ability to see is essential for a passionate hunting dog. Unfortunately, especially blunt traumas to the eye are often treated incorrectly," says Dr. Engelhardt, with regret. Following their presentations, all presenters will be available for audience questions and a discussion. 

Further exciting items on the agenda

The multifaceted supplementary offerings consist of hunting horn groups, fashion shows, the post exhibit of different hunting dog breeds as well as a raptor air display on the open grounds to round out the huntsmen’s offerings of JAGEN und FISCHEN. Active participation is possible in the long bow archery with Adalbert Klemens Schmelter and his team from Bogenzeit (supported by TBSV Paderborn reg.) as well as in the Augsburger Hunter Association shooting gallery. 

Whoever has been introduced to the elegant ways of fly fishing through the trade show, can try out their gear in the 50 Meter long casting zone for fly fishers and be inspired by Ralph Warnke, a real expert, in the introduction to fly fishing rods.

The Augsburger Fish Center consecrates the show stage live with Erwin Tibad, a twice German Master, in the introduction to the secrets of tying flies.

The Fischery Club Ortlfingen will spoil the show visitors with fish dishes, prepared with native fishes. The aroma of zander filet, and delicious fish patties will lead a spontaneous culinary break, for which tired fair-feet will be thankful. Who has the wish to cook afterwards, can get ideas from the well-versed cooking show professionals in the nearby wild-and fish kitchen.
