Accessibility Statement

Accessibility of the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference Website

Messe Augsburg strives to make its website accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG), which comes into effect on June 28, 2025, to implement Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act).

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://www.off-grid-expo.com/en

How accessible is the website?

The benchmark for assessing accessibility is the European standard EN 301 549 Version 3.2.1 and the German Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0).

Currently, not all of the aforementioned requirements are fully met. Therefore, the website is not fully accessible.

The accessibility of Messe Augsburg’s websites is part of an ongoing development process. Identified shortcomings and deficiencies are currently undergoing a continuous improvement process that is being implemented step by step. Some areas are particularly accessible and largely meet the requirements.

Which areas are not accessible?

The assessment of compliance is based on the audit result from May 23, 2025.

The following areas were identified as not fully accessible during the review:

  • Some images or icons lack alternative text or have insufficient descriptions, limiting usability for screen reader users.
  • Structural information (e.g., headings, form groups) is partly not semantically correctly marked, preventing screen readers from reliably conveying the content structure.
  • In some cases, content is only fully usable in a specific orientation (e.g., portrait mode), which can be problematic for users of mobile devices with fixed holding aids.
  • Some texts do not meet the required color contrast ratio against the background (minimum 4.5:1 or 3:1), impairing readability for visually impaired users.
  • When text is enlarged to 200%, display issues may occur (e.g., overlapping or cut-off content), making the site harder to use.
  • Text within image graphics is used in some places, and these cannot be resized through zoom or font size adjustments.
  • Not all interactive elements (e.g., navigation menus, controls) are fully operable using a keyboard.
  • Moving content (e.g., automatically running sliders or animations) cannot always be paused, stopped, or hidden.
  • The visible keyboard focus is not always clearly identifiable, making it difficult for users to track their current position in the navigation flow.
  • Form inputs lack helpful hints or suggestions in the event of input errors, which particularly affects users with cognitive impairments.
  • Some controls (e.g., custom buttons or interface elements) do not correctly convey their name, role, or status to assistive technologies.

This statement was created on June 6, 2025, based on a previous audit following the harmonized European standard EN 301 549 (Version 3.2.1).
