  4. Final Report JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025

19.01.2025

At the start of the year, JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025 attracted over 23,000 hunters and anglers along with many nature lovers and families to Messe Augsburg

From January 17 to 19, JAGEN UND FISCHEN, the leading industry trade fair in southern Germany, proved its status as the central meeting point for hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Under the motto "Experience nature", the event attracted well over 23,000 visitors to Augsburg with approx. 300 exhibitors from 18 countries, over 20% exhibitors from outside Germany, an exhibition area of over 20,000 square meters and an extensive and varied program.

JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025 offered an impressive mix of traditional highlights and many innovations, providing great impressions and unique experiences. True to its motto "Experience nature", the trade fair was once again a place of discovery, exchange and passion for nature in 2025. Visitors and exhibitors were able to discover this for themselves in three packed exhibition halls over the trade fair weekend. With worlds of experience, specialist forums, interactive hands-on activities and culinary delights, JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025 was an experience for all the senses for well over 23,000 visitors.

JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025 also demonstrated that it is a platform for all nature lovers - whether newcomers or experienced experts. A wide range of offers for young hunters, people interested in hunting for the first time and families created additional incentives to come to Messe Augsburg. The manufacturers' tour offered young hunters a guided, practice-oriented opportunity to discover relevant equipment objectively and to talk to manufacturers. Seminars and workshops supplemented the offer, and both conveyed sound knowledge and provided support aimed at young hunters.

Families, on the other hand, benefited from the new discovery guide, which led them to the most exciting program events and from interactive stations such as the aquarium world and the quad bike course. Exhibitors also confirmed in discussions that a significant number of new customers and families attended JAGEN UND FISCHEN and were seeking specific information. One of the most recent partners, the Social insurance for agriculture, forestry and horticulture (Sozialversicherung für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau), attended for the first time on an area of 100 sq m, and offered not only a range of information about safety in the forest, but also hearing and skin sensitivity tests for all visitors. The trade fair therefore not only won over experienced industry experts, but also those wishing to take their first steps into the world of hunting, fishing and outdoor experiences.

A very special highlight was the panel discussion on Saturday, which brought the presidents of the Bavarian hunting association (Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V.) and the Forest owners' association (Waldbesitzerverband) together on stage for the first time in many years. The Vice President of the Bavarian hunting association (Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V.), Roland Weigert, and Dr. Martina Hudler from the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf), Ernst Weidenbusch and Bernhard Breitsameter discussed the topic ‘Do we still need a shooting plan?’ with Hubert Aiwanger, Deputy Minister President and patron of JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025. During the discussion, all the parties agreed the need for active dialog on the reconstruction of the forest and that all parties involved must enter discussions and work together. Deputy Minister President and patron Hubert Aiwanger also stated: "Regular forest inspections and the coordination of hunting and silvicultural measures are the path to solving this dilemma. We need a balanced forest-to-game ratio, stable forests and healthy game populations."

A strong partner network

The trade fair once again benefited from close cooperation with both its long-standing and more recent partners, including the Augsburg hunters' association (Jägervereinigung Augsburg e. V.), the Swabian fishing association (Fischereiverband Schwaben e. V.), the district of Swabia with its fishing advisory service (Fischereifachberatung), the Bavarian hunting association (Bayerischer Jagdverband e.V.) , the Bavarian and Baden-Württemberg state fishing associations (Landesfischereiverbände Bayern und Baden-Württemberg), the Office for nutrition, agriculture and forestry (Amt für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten) and the Social insurance for agriculture, forestry and horticulture (Sozialversicherung für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau). These collaborations are the foundation for the success of the trade fair and guarantee a high-quality offering for visitors.

Quotes:

Messe Augsburg, Lorenz A. Rau, Managing Director:

"JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025 has once again shown the importance of a trade fair as a platform for exchange and inspiration, which was particularly obvious in the panel discussion. With our motto 'Experience nature', we have made the connection between man and nature tangible, which is particularly popular with those generally interested in nature - JAGEN UND FISCHEN has now developed into a trade fair that appeals to significantly more target groups in addition to hunters and anglers."

Landesfischereiverband Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg state fishing association), Malte Seibold:

"Every year, it is particularly important to us to appeal to children and offer them an exciting and informative program. And we're delighted to see that we succeeded again this year - there were so many children there!"

Jägervereinigung Augsburg e. V. (Augsburg hunters' association), Carolin Mader, Deputy Chair:

"It went really well, the trade fair was very successful for us, and we had numerous interesting discussions; lots of enthusiastic children visited the stand, which makes us particularly happy, because they are the future. A big thank you also to Messe Augsburg for the appreciation we receive every year and the excellent cooperation!"

District of Swabia, Dr Oliver Born, Head of the Fischereifachberatung (Fisheries advisory service):

"We are extremely satisfied with the whole trade fair. It was so busy, and our stand attracted a huge amount of interest - we provided so many explanations and answered questions. It should also be emphasized that all levels of the fishing industry are here: from local associations and federations to ministry representatives who have come for joint discussions."

Fischereiverband Schwaben e. V. (Swabian fishing association), Stefan Zott, Managing Director:

"The number of visitors was impressive, and everyone was extremely interested in our various activities, particularly youth work, which we are delighted about. Our fishing diploma for children and young people was extremely well received - and our 'stream whisperer' initiative, which appeals to our members to take even more care of small streams and rivers in particular and which celebrated its premiere at JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2025, received some great feedback!"

Sozialversicherung für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau (Social insurance for agriculture, forestry and horticulture), Michael Schenk:

"There was a significant increase in visitors to our stand compared to the previous year. Many hunters of all ages were there and talked to us, but there were also many other interested visitors. Our hearing and skin sensitivity tests were particularly popular. We are very satisfied and are already looking forward to next year with some initial ideas about what else we can do."

JagdMomente, Felix Kuwert:

"Our stand was packed - our specialist presentations met with great interest and the hunting films also attracted a large number of visitors, which pleased us enormously. Our attraction, the trip to our nearby hunting grounds with a wildlife biologist, was particularly popular. Everyone who came with us was absolutely thrilled."

media & fishing team, Torsten Ahrens:

"Our specialist forum at JAGEN UND FISCHEN was a great success: the professional presentations were very popular with the numerous visitors, who were enthusiastic and actively involved. We’re totally satisfied with the high number of visitors and the consistently positive feedback."
