Around 23,000 visitors came to Augsburg to experience three exciting and inspiring days centered around hunting, fishing, outdoor recreation, and forestry, all under the guiding theme: “Experience Nature.”
From January 16–18, 2026, Messe Augsburg once again became a dynamic platform for professional exchange, hands-on experiences, and emotional connection with nature—not just for hunters and anglers, but also for families, outdoor enthusiasts, young hunters, and newcomers. On roughly 20,000 square meters, about 300 exhibitors showcased products and solutions across the fields of hunting, angling and fisheries, apparel, forestry, and off-road gear. Once again, JAGEN UND FISCHEN confirmed its status as the most important public trade fair for hunting, fishing, and nature in southern Germany.
At the heart of the event were three beloved and immersive themed areas: The Fishing Experience World, curated by Fischereifachberatung Bezirk Schwaben and Fischereiverband Schwaben, showcased the impressive biodiversity of native aquatic species. The Hunting Experience World, designed by the Jägervereinigung Augsburg e. V., focused this year on the theme "Game, Forest, Knowledge", bringing forest ecosystems to life. And the Hunting Dog Experience World, managed by Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e. V., presented over 50 breeds and types of hunting dogs in action, demonstrating their indispensable role in everyday hunting.
Two live show kitchens drew crowds as well: In Hall 1, fish took center stage, while Hall 3 featured wild game cuisine. Local chefs and experts demonstrated how regional wildlife can be sustainably and deliciously prepared—from forest or water to the plate—with a focus on full-animal utilization and conscious enjoyment.
A visitor favorite was once again the "Forest of the Future" exhibit hosted by Amt für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten (AELF) in Hall 3. This newly expanded feature showed guests of all ages how climate change is transforming local forests, how hunting and forestry intersect, and even how to properly plant tree saplings.
Both professional forums offered rich content:
At the Hunter’s Forum, topics ranged from fawn rescue using drones to legal issues in hunting and forestry, culminating in a high-profile panel discussion with State Minister Hubert Aiwanger, the event’s official patron. The focus: “Public Perception of Hunting and Social Media – Is Hunting Still Communicable Today?”
At the Angler’s Forum, visitors learned about aquaculture, aquaponics, fisheries policy, and angling techniques—many of which they could try for themselves. The new fly casting pool in Hall 1 and the casting sports area in Hall 3 offered hands-on opportunities for all skill levels.
One key takeaway: The event continues to reach new audiences. More and more young hunters, first-timers, and families with children are attending. The growing focus on outdoor and off-road topics is resonating with a broader public. Guided tours for young hunters, hands-on seminars, discovery stations for kids, and a dedicated “Explorer Guide” made the fair an ideal starting point for anyone curious about nature and conservation.
Once again, the show benefited from close collaboration with a dedicated network of long-term and new partners, including the Augsburg hunters' association (Jägervereinigung Augsburg e. V.), the Swabian fishing association (Fischereiverband Schwaben e. V.), the District of Swabia with its fishing advisory service (Bezirk Schwaben Fischereifachberatung), Augsburg hunting dogs association (Jagdgebrauchshundeverein Augsburg e. V.), the Bavarian fishing youth association (Bayerische Fischerjugend), the Baden-Württemberg state fishing associations (Landesfischereiverband Baden-Württemberg), the German Order of the Hawk Bavaria Chapter (Deutscher Falkenorden Landesverband Bayern), the Office for nutrition, agriculture and forestry (Amt für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten), the Social insurance for agriculture, forestry and horticulture (Sozialversicherung für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau), and new this year European Fly Fishing Association. These partnerships form the backbone of the event and ensure an exceptional, high-quality experience for visitors.
Planning has already begun for next year: JAGEN UND FISCHEN 2027 will take place from January 15–17, 2027 in Augsburg. Exhibitors can already register their interest now.
“JAGEN UND FISCHEN isn’t just for professionals—it’s a space for everyone who wants to protect and shape the natural world. The motto ‘Experience Nature’ resonates with hunters and anglers as well as many new target groups. Once again in 2026, the show proved its relevance as a platform for inspiration and exchange.”
“We're proud to have helped bring nature into the center of the hall and show it to the visitors. The stage program in Hall 2 offered particularly engaging content for the hunting community. Above all, we’re grateful to the JAGEN UND FISCHEN team for an outstanding collaboration this year!”
“Our booth was especially popular with families with young children, who were fascinated by the aquariums and our incubation channel. The highlight for me? The great conversations with curious and engaged visitors.”
“We’re very pleased with the strong interest in our topics. We successfully raised awareness about the impact of climate change on waterways and shared possible solutions and measures.”
“For visitors interested in dogs, our area is a big draw. Here, they can have in-depth conversations with breeders, trainers, and handlers. Families and kids are especially enthusiastic. For us, it’s a major opportunity to showcase our hunting dogs.”
